[Geoserver-users] need to explicitly request refresh kml reflector mode

I'm in the process of migrating our GeoServer installation to a new server
and I'm trying to duplicate the URLs our users have saved in My Places in
Google Earth.

I'm finding that the old URLs don't work until I add "mode=refresh" to the
old URLs.

I'm using Geoserver version 2.8.4 on the new server. The Default Reflector
Mode is set to "refresh" under KML Options in the WMS settings in GeoServer.

I'd like the old URLs to work as before so that the users don't have to
recreate their My Places in Google Earth.

I'm using Geoserver version 2.8.4 on the new server.

Can you replicate on a supported version of GeoServer? 2.8.x has been out of
support for around a year now, you should try out 2.11.1 instead.

What version were you using before?

I tried it on 2.11.1 with the same results.

I was using version 2.2.4 on the old server.

I see... wow, what a jump, the KML subsystem was completely rewritten in
the middle,
we asked for feedback when it happened a few years ago (but did not get
much).
I guess all you can do now is to open a ticket at:
https://osgeo-org.atlassian.net/projects/GEOS/summary

Please add steps to reproduce, like, how does one make it happen with the
built-in
demo layers for example, whether layer groups and involved and the like.
If this is a matter of urgency you might want to propose a fix yourself [1],
or look into commercial support at http://geoserver.org/support/

I was about to open a ticket but discovered the problem does not occur with
the demo layers, only with our custom PostGIS layers.

And when the problem does occur (again when 'mode:refresh' is omitted), the
GeoServer logs reference errors from PostGIS functions.

So, I think I need to look into the PostGIS side first.
