[Geoserver-users] GeoServer PDF User manuals

Hello,

I've got a few quick questions for everyone concerning the GeoServer PDF
user manual:

How many of you are:
Aware that a PDF version of the GeoServer User manual exists.
Use the PDF User manual or find it useful.

If you were not aware of its existence, would you find a PDF user manual
useful?

Preliminary evidence suggests that despite the fact that we build it every
release, it is not actually getting used (in part because there is no easy
way of getting it, since it is not getting put up on the download site
right now).

Thanks,

Torben

Hello Gavin,

It contains the same information as the online docs, just in PDF form.

Hi Torben,
I was not aware it existed. Is there more information there than in the
online docs? If so I would definitely use it. If not, it's all the same to
me.

I can say that I am aware of the PDF version, but find myself doing a simple Google search for my normal help needs (or the Users list).

If I was in a disconnected or closed environment, I.E. government or military installation, I would find the PDF extremely valuable as this would be the only option to get help into said environment.

My opinion only.

You would also be able to download the html manual, admittedly that is not
very searchable offline.

For example:
-
http://sourceforge.net/projects/geoserver/files/GeoServer/2.11.1/geoserver-2.11.1-htmldoc.zip

For comparison here is the same manual as a PDF:
-
http://ares.boundlessgeo.com/geoserver/release/2.11.1/geoserver-2.11.1-user-manual.pdf

we are aware of the existence of the manual and we do include it as
part of the documentation of our product which bundles a GeoServer
release w/ its installer.

I was not aware there was such a thing until now.
I don't now, but I would consider it useful if maintaining one or more legacy versions of Geoserver for my organization, though I would first try to avoid getting into that situation before adopting such a solution.
