[Geoserver-users] Trying to get ArcMap to read WMS from Geoserver using the beta 3.

Hi,

After upgrading to beta 3 ArcGIS no longer recognises the WMS service, was using the stable version and it worked fine.

well, the error message does not say much!
I guess you could try to sniff what is going on at the http level to
get more info.

shooting in the dark, but it could be that ArcMap is not understanding
the WMS 1.3 capabilities, since geoserver 2.1-beta3 comes with WMS 1.3.

Try using ?request=GetCapabilities&version=1.1.1 in your getcaps URL.
Not sure ArcMap will respect it though, but it should.
